Sadie Hawkins Day!
For some of us we celebrate Sadie Hawkins day.
This is for those of you that do!
Reports have it that Sadie Hawkins Day is on February 29th but other reports have it as November 15th. No matter which day you celebrate it on it's always sure to be a fun time. For the unwed gal anyway!
So if you celebrate this momentous occasion every year or once every four years this is for you!

This Week in History
12 Nov 1815 marks the birth of Elizabeth Cady Stanton
"Womanhood is the great fact in her life; wifehood and motherhood are but incidental relations"
"Because man and woman are the complement of one another, we need woman's thought in national affairs to make a safe and stable government"
-- Elizabeth Cady Stanton

If I were just starting out, here's what I'd buy!
As a new paper crafter is is really hard to know just WHERE to start! If your anything like I was, you flip through the Idea Book and Catalogue and wonder just where to start! Each project looks so gorgeous and you want to make one similar to it with your own flare.
Well I'm here to help!
Here is my two bobs worth of advice on what to get your self this Christmas season or better yet what your family and friends can get you this holiday season if you are a beginner scrapbooker or stamper.
Stamping is like using a recipe. There are your basic ingredients and then all the fun "flourishes" you can throw in to add more flavour! All of these items are found in our catalogs:
The Basics:
- a. Papers: I choose a neutral pack of card stock: either Whisper White or Very Vanilla. Then choose the assorted pack of colored cardstock to match the colors of your markers or ink pads.
- b. Ink: look at the set you chose. If you need to color the images in that set (line images), choose the Basic Black Classic ink pad and a set of Stampin' Write markers. If the set has solid images you can choose 3 to 4 Classic ink pads to match the colour of your coloured cardstock to pull the card together.
- c. Stamps: think about an occasion for cards or scrapbook pages (eg. birthday, travel, growing up) then select a stamp set to match. I advise to get a set that has both images and words.
These items will enhance your Basics:
- a. Paper Trimmer – great for matting photos or cutting card stock layers and strips
- b. Adhesive – either Snail or Anywhere Glue Sticks
- c. Cleaner - Stampin' Scrub & Stampin' Mist
- d. Envelopes – either Whisper White or Very Vanilla, depending on "a" above
- a. Accessories – these items add interest to your cards and scrapbook pages, and include brads, ribbon, glitter, and so on
- b. Punches – makes stamp-and-go a reality!
- c. Designer Series paper – patterned paper that adds to any project idea
- d. Our Catalogues – not just a Catalogue but an Idea books that WOWS!
- e. The Big Shot – the "Creme De La Creme" machine - that makes every project DELICIOUS!
So it's as easy as that! Start off with the basics and build your master piece from there.

Melbourne Cup Day!
Dear Fellow Aussies!
Happy Melbourne Cup Day!
This is for you:
Happy Melbourne Cup Day!
This is for you:
Melbourne Cup Magic
By Paul McCann
It's a horse race called the Melbourne Cup.
The first Tuesday in November is the date that has been set.
It's the horse race that stops Australia.
It's that very same race when millions are laid out for a bet.
Flemington racecourse is where it's at.
You'll find the punters jumping for joy as good odds come their way.
The bookmakers put up their prices .
You can't hear a thing but the crowd roaring its Melbourne Cup day.
There are the dead runners and long shots.
Some may loose their shirt a four-legged fancy of their own.
Melbourne Cup has a special magic.
The fashions come out to see how it wears as the punters roam .
All the flowers are softly blooming .
It's a colourful show for the cup.
Somewhere in the throng of it all horses go a giddy-up .
Jockeys are on their mounts and it's on .
Lips quiver , all eyes are fixed for the race is about to start .
The barriers open, off they go.
Around the turn they come there's a flutter in every heart .
The front few race for the winning post .
The excitement has been, the winners are seen to be leaping.
There are always the hard luck stories .
The magic about is all is there are no losers weeping

Relay for Life
Today my darling son and I will be heading down to our local football club to be involved in the Relay for Life.
For the last three years we have taken part in this event. It's a way for us to remember those that we have loved and lost and to remember those who are battling.
This year we remembered my sister who passed away two years ago and my father in law who passed away who passed away some 35 years ago. We remember countless family, friends and loved ones.
Today we remember and keep them closer to our hearts than ever.
If you would like to be involved, please go to the websites below and become involved today.

It's Child's Play
I love sharing crafts with my boys even though it's not always the guy thing to do. But my youngest lovely son enjoyed my recently stamped candle so much that he wanted to make one himself.
So without further ado, here is his fine lovely creation.
I love how he has put his own spin on the candle adding baubles and making the star himself.
If you or your children would like to make a candle like this don't hesitate to email me or give me a ring on 0419 410 255

So, I'll leave you with these photos and wish you and yours a very peaceful Saturday!

So what dreams are you setting aside because people have told you you coudln't do it? What do you dream about doing?
